Encouraging Climate Change Awareness and August Blessings

While enjoying the abundance of the season (find below your invitation to the upcoming Abundance in Community Celebration on August 27), we would like to bring to you new exciting thoughts and events from Hope for Creation!

First, we’d like to give a warm thank you to two of our active congregations – Westminster Presbyterian Church and First United Methodist Church – for donations made in July. Both congregations designated Hope for Creation as the recipient of a special offering in support of local initiatives. We are grateful to be considered worthy of these congregational offerings – and we’d love to acknowledge your congregation’s donation in a future email newsletter!

In August, we also have an upcoming community garden event for the end of the summer!

Join us for a celebration of Abundance in Community at the Growing Community Garden - 2800 Gull Rd - on Saturday, August 27th from 3:00-7:00 pm to enjoy the abundance of the harvest season! We’ll start the afternoon with cooking demonstrations; come get some ideas for tasty ways to use the garden’s bounty. At 5:30, we’ll sit down to a community meal. Bring a dish to pass if you can. If you can’t, come anyway!

Let us know you’re coming! RSVP here: https://forms.gle/Y632cN3R1S1gMRYx8

Our Purposely Plant-Based Diet initiative has also been working hard to get out new exciting and motivating recipes out and available on our website! There are four new recipes to try including our yummy Strawberry Rhubarb Streusel Bars recipe and our page dedicated to what you can do with tofu! Our PPB team strongly encourages a vegan diet where there are not only many benefits to the environment, but can also be beneficial to your health as well. Even choosing more fruit and vegetables over animal products can help in reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
